Lesson Title: Voice Thread Social Networking/Online Collaboration

GOALS
Description of the Lesson:
The students will eat a well balanced diet prior to coming to school for three days straight. This lesson will physically demonstrate the importance of good nutritious food. The students will gather information from the internet about how food effects or mind and energy levels. The student will work in a group and create a voice thread.

Content Standards:
4.3 Explain that nutritious food provides energy for alertness and mental concentration.

Instructional objective(s):
The students are going to eat a well balanced breakfast for 3 days in the middle of the week. Then they are going to keep track of three important things how they feel energy alertness and concentration.
To uncover the importance of how food affects our energy for alertness and mental focus. Create a voice thread that demonstrates communication and collaboration.


Voice Thread inspires creativity by allowing the students to import pictures from the internet, to draw by hand and up load their own as well as scanning pictures too.
ACTION
Before-class preparation:
Request the computer lab for two days (T/TH) a week for the next two weeks from 11:00- 12:00.

Student groupings:
One gifted, one low performing and two average students in a group
Environmental modifications:
The students can collaborate on their voice thread project by using the class blog to discuss during and outside of class. They can make changes to the voice thread on their own time outside of the T/TH 11:00-12:00 class time. The students can monitor their project themselves and I can as well.

Ongoing assessment(s):
The students will continue to eat nutritious foods a few days a week and track their energy levels on the days they don’t and do adhere to the program.
They can blog on our class website outside of class time to monitor the creation of the voice thread.

Accommodations and extensions:
Diverse learners will be able to utilize the tutorial that is audio as well as visual to help create the voice thread anytime to clarify if needed.
Backup plan:
The students can create a power point instead of a voice thread. The class has learned how to create power points earlier in the semester.
EVALUATE AND EXTEND

Daily monitoring with a check list
Circulate around the class while they are working in groups in the computer lab
Create a criteria chart with what is require in the presentation voice thread
Have the student present their voice thread in a culminating task
